The History of Christmas Baking ๐ซ
The origin of baking Christmas cookies lies quite a bit further back in our past. Long before families began the custom of baking Christmas cookies as tree decorations, cookies and Christmas breads were made in monasteries at Christmas long before in the Middle Ages.
In this way, the feast day of Christ's birth was to be honored. At the same time, the monks wanted to express their wealth, because the ingredients were expensive, and the normal population could not afford them. Most of the typical Christmas baked goods date back to this time. Presumably, they were distributed to the poor population after the church service.
As the holidays are just around the corner, and I would like to share my favorite cookie recipe, in case you still want to fill your cookie jar (or refill it as it is already empty).
Have you already tried Christmas cookies? Which one is your favorite? ๐
The competition will take place daily from 01.12.2022 to 24.12.2022 on the Wolt Kurier blog (https://www.wolt.team/blog). You can comment daily under the current blog post to participate in the sweepstakes. Details about the competition can be found here. The competition is open to anyone over the age of 18 who lives in Germany. Excluded are persons who have not completed a delivery as Wolt courier in the last three months. The Advent raffle and the winnings granted therefrom represent a voluntary benefit of the employer. A corresponding claim does not arise for the future from the implementation of the raffle. We reserve the right to decide each year whether to hold an Advent raffle and which prizes to offer. This also applies if we hold the raffle repeatedly.
